The styled shoot was the brainchild of myself and Ben (Wildblooms Floristry) who wanted to create an inclusive styled shoot that was fun, modern and full of bright colours. The inspiration of the shoot began with the idea of a bright coloured suit. We got in touch with Ara Experience to see if they had something similar which they did not, however they loved the concept and decided that they would love to create a sample specific to the shoot and put it into their collection.
Once we had the fabric swatch for the suit we used that as a building block to organise the vision and style of the shoot, pulling pink tones through the set up, florals and cake design. We wanted the flowers to be unique and represent the personalities of the couples, challenging the concept of what a bridal bouquet and ceremony flowers look like. Once we started the planning process, it snow-balled and before we knew it, we had a massive group of amazing people on board wanting to get involved with the concept.
We wanted to make sure that the shoot would demonstrate a fun atmosphere and break the ‘traditional’ look of weddings. This was evident in the cake design which really challenged what a wedding cake could look like and have something unique and fun. Since smaller micro-weddings and elopements had come into fashion, as as a result of lockdowns, we wanted to show the audience that anything is possible. You don’t need to break the bank and go all out on huge weddings at large venues but can still inject your own personality and style into a smaller wedding.
Being massive animal lovers, we made sure we incorporated a fur baby in the shoot, with pets at wedding being super popular and common amongst couples getting married. It was exceptionally important to us to organised a styled shoot that depicted a same-sex couple and encourage that representation within the wedding industry.
